Architectural frames are a very important part of modern architectural styles and designs. 
Created as a structural skeleton that is able to support the structure and stand by itself these amazing designs are able to support the weight of floors, and walls and resist the elements.

First wall frames were specifically designed as a support structure without any aesthetical purpose. They were purely rigid frames systems mostly used for large commercial multistorey buildings, consisting of steel frames. Other popular wall frames systems included fixed ended rigid frame structures, pin ended rigid frames, brace structural frames and gable frame steel structures.
A rigid frames system is used mainly to support concrete buildings. They are used as reinforcement for walls and floors so vertical and lateral loads can be resisted.  As a result of this reinforcement, buildings can resist movement, especially in earthquake-prone areas and create a stable structure. Frame structures were used not only for their structural benefits but also as a design element to achieve marvels of engineering and design such as the Eiffel Tower.
Not all frame systems are fix ended rigid frame structures. 
Portal structural frames are gaining popularity nowadays and they are used very often in the construction of industrial and commercial buildings.  portal frames are very similar to the look of a door frame and the most popular types are fixed portal frames, two-pin portal frames and three-pin portal frames.  Portal frames are a great choice for designers and architects because of the advantages they provide. One of the main advantages is the ease of transport of portal frames from one place to another, with a low cost of maintenance and less time to construct than any other frames. They also provide great ventilation and allow for plenty of light.
With high stability against lateral forces such as wind or earthquake, they are a great choice for architectural designers where not only cost but also safety are important factors to consider.
